Hi Everyone,
Hope you are having a really nice Christmas. I have downloaded the three Class 56 files and have given the loaded version a run on the Clarendon Coal Delivery route file. The train sounds good and handles extremely well. It really feels the gradients and strugglers to gain maximum speed. You don't have to worry too much about the train's maximum speed as you won't be doing that for any time. I had no trouble stopping the train correctly.

I will try the light engine before long but are there any actual route files for these workings or do we have to attach either of the three 56 train files to an existing Route File and how dios this affect the return working that is mentioned?

No complaints here just thanks to everyone involved.

Cheers.

Great train to drive, although i've only done the Empties on the 06.00 NWM Brookfield Yard - Ludgate Hill, so it was pretty quick off the mark, same as BillEWS, no trouble stopping correctly and good fun playing about with the horn :P But can't wait to try out the loaded version going up the incline [what's the name of the incline?] again on the 06.00 NWM Brookfield Yard - Ludgate hill.

I believe that the incline is called Haden Hill. The worst happened to me when I was going up it. The Driver Vigilance went off, but I didn't hear it,as I had my speakers turned down. Brakes went on, but they failed to stop the train rolling down the hill.

LMAO That did happen to me first time i played it, in a 66, then a 37 really struggled and stopped, couldn't get them going again, but now learned how to get to the top from a standing start [The signal just before the tunnel]

How would it still roll down the hill? The gradient isn't steep enough to beat the emergency brakes on all the trains...

That's because in BVE the brake just ensures the train stands still - it doesn't enforce the act of motion to allow rolling! Or at least, it doesn't when I try it....

i'm just off to try the loaded version now, hit the bottom of Haden Hill at 55-60mph over the top at say 10-15mph? lol

Stuff that 30mph speed restriction at the bottom of the hill, just before the station, round there at 65 :P

I have now ran the 56 as a light loco over the Class 37 route file to Birmingham New Street and it ran perfectly. It was interesting to see a BVE4 loco using the direct air brake rather than the proportional brake.

Next I tried the 56 on the 06.00 heavy freight from Brookfiled Yard to Ludgate Hill. Wow, it really was hard going. I was down to 6-7 mph from the base of the gradient until approaching the tunnel mouth at the sumit. IRather than restart BVE I left the power on No.6 setting, with 30000 amps and the train didn't faulter and as soon as it came out of the tunnel speed increased continually, albeit from then on, what with a signal check then to clear it was hard going getting speed back up to 45 mph before having to shut off for the junction prior to Ludgate Hill.

I could do better on a second run but this initial run with the 56 was a good indication how well this loco handles the train over this route. Again, well-done to everyone involved.

Cheers.

Press the No. 2 key, on the Keyboard. The reverser must be in 'neutral'. There is a few seconds of silence and a few clicks but it eventually starts up. Just like the real thing did. You may also have to press the 'spacebar' as if there was a DRA present!

Cheers.

Yup, it tells you to press 'space' to release the parking brake.

Superb train! :p

I like the horn too :D i do have one issue though, the TPWS kicks in at about 32mph, and I ahve been caught out by it (usually it's 35mph)
