I thought they put all there locos up for sales last year, that doesn’t stop them
Hiring them though I guess!

They haven’t seemed to be the biggest operator and while I was doing some digging about them the other day I couldn’t find much - I’ll try again!

DCR was sold by BARS, the new owners took on 56091, 56103 and 56303. The rest were sold on or sent to preserved railways. 56103 is currently their only operational locomotive and there have been some suggestions that 56303 was sold to GBRf, whether that was before or after it was collided with I am unable to confirm. 56103 has just returned to service after engine repairs were completed at Leicester.

56303 seems to have been sitting in Wembley yard for a while now

Do they have much work? I would have thought they’d struggle against the bigger boys? Mind you ROG seem to be making good inroads- sorry straying off topic here

I believe the only job 'on the books' is the Barrington spoil working. The fact only 1 locomotive is operational at the moment does limit them somewhat of course. We wait to see whether 56303 is repairable/was sold to GBRf, if the plan was for it to remain in the fleet maybe there was a plan for the fleet size to be doubled. Whether 56091 features in DCR's future plans also remains to be seen.

ROG are a slightly different concept as they have found an operating niche in specialising in rolling stock moves using specially adapted traction to negate the need for barrier wagons.

I had a quick look online and found reference to 56303 having been on route learning duties and due to work the Barrington spoil working on 22 May 2018 (Source:Class56Group website referred to by another Poster earlier in the thread). At some stage since then it has been involved in some form of collision whilst stabled and it seems that this matter is still being investigated. I believe it was discovered 1 week later probably while being prepared to work the Barrington spoil working the following week. One cab is clearly damaged and of course there could well be other unseen damage to other parts of the loco.

Well it did run today and ran early through most of it schedule.

Locos were 66769 with 56037, 56311, 56031 and 56032. Picture of 56032 attached56032_Walsall_060718a.JPG

The internals in fact dont matter as most of it is destined for the scrap skip. The 56s are going to Longport for major re-engineering which will form the basis of something akin to a 66 in a 56s bodyshell. Even then, theres talk of new cab assemblies so what you could be left with is the roof and underframes of a 56 and thats ya lot. Only the three best ones are intended to be kept standard, and three for spares only. The rest wont be 56s anymore.

Don't go applying logic to it as there is no consistency....
Class 30 Mirrlees to EE: reclassified as Class 31
Class 47 Sulzer to Ruston: reclassified as 47/6 (later again to 47/9)
Class 37 EE to Mirrlees/Ruston: reclassified as 37/9
Class 47 Sulzer to GM: reclassified as 57
HST power cars: some to 43/2, many more not changed at all
Class 73 EE to Cummins or MTU: reclassified as 73/9

Anybody know what the latest is with 56303? It’s been sitting at Willesden for a long time now.
I know there is severe damage to the centre casting which was found upon inspection a few years back, and that it was mooted to be going by road to Eastleigh but this hasn’t materialised.
Has the insurer written this off?
Any updates would be greatly appreciated
