So, I heard the locomotive 50044 "Exeter" came back to life after being stopped for 6 years.

The particularity here being that the loco was now equipped with a 16CSVT from a Portuguese CP Class 1800.

Anyone who has seen the loco running since October 4th can tell if the difference on the engine is audible?

I haven’t seen or heard it running Giugiaro apart from on YouTube etc, but I wouldn’t have thought it would sound any different because all of the exhaust, intercoolers, turbo chargers etc would be to class 50 spec.
The 1800s have a different arrangement I believe?

Isn't the whole point of repatriating the Portuguese power unit that it's basically the same? Thus, it shouldn't sound any different.
Someone correct me if I'm way out: traction isn't my forté!

Well, both use a 16CSVT, so I would be surprised if either would sound exactly the same under de same hood.

If it were the case of the 8CSVT of a CP Class 1400 inside a Class 20 (8SVT mkII), then maybe they would sound different.
Such thing might actually be impossible actually.
