Class 483's - where are the numbers?

Hello,

Off tomorrow to the Isle of Wight for the first time. Will be riding the island line.
I notice from pictures that there is no number (ie 483001) on the front. Can't make out any on the side of the cabs either.

Where can I find this?, so I can know which 483 I am seeing.

I can make out in some pictures two numbers (eg '06') in the middle of the cab windows. Is this the unit number?
I thought it might be, but then again it could be a head code of sorts.

While I'm asking, will all the line's units be out tomorrow or do they only need some of them to work the diagrams, especially at this time of year.

The last three digits of the numbers are carried in the little window under the central windscreen of the cab. There are also carriage side numbers in the usual way.

Hi there

The fleet number is on the front, under the centre window in what looks like a headcode casing as you say. They just have 009 for 483009, 007 for 483007 etc.

Hope you have a nice trip - beautiful scenery along that line - very jealous!

Will probably just be two units out, a single unit on both diagrams.

It is sad that these days a fleet of five two-car trains is used on a line that used to have 12 3 & 4 (sort of- half a car lost to traction equipment) car units that often operated as 7-car trains

It can be worth noting the individual carriage numbers on the side as well as the end numbers, units can sometimes be formed of coaches from two different units.
