I'm trying to find out how many bogie wagons a 47 (or two) could take out of Cardiff Pengam FLT (as was) and the services - anyone help?

I have photos of single 47s with 15 wagons leaving there, but not sure what the maximum load was.

Up to 20 for a load of 1070t trailing - hence the allocation of a 56 way back for 4E70 , to Stratford , which started back from Swansea Flt. 1980 ?

This photo of 47600 leaving Pengam in 1986 may be 4E70, and seems to have a good load, maybe 20. At the time we used this train to return empty Royal Mail Parcels boxes to the east London Parcel Office.

Did the Danycraig-Glasgow serve Pengam? That was latterly booked 2x47 before becoming 1x56.

In its 1x47 guise it had a brief spell of running out of fuel on the marches .

There was a Coatbridge service but I don't remember double 47s on it. Maybe it was already 56s by the time I was working in Cardiff.

I seem to recall there was a 5 set from Pengam to Glasgow Gushetfaulds from 1979 , largely for beer traffic ! - (though if Swansea had got a tranche of Scottish traffic , arrangements could have been made for a through working , which could have been shunted into Cardiff Flt for a top-up)
