They were in need of a very good refurb (Talking as a person who travels on them alot) but from an enthusiasts point of view there will be no Network SouthEast interior Damn!

There is no new livery. The first post says it's got a refreshed interior with new seat covers. The livery on the outside is presumably still Southern livery.

South Eastern not Southern, but yes you are correct - I asked the poster shortly after and they said the livery is the same. They were expecting it would move to Wolverton when the time came for a new livery, but nobody knows when this is - South Eastern seem to be the slowest TOC with livery changing!

I don't think SouthEastern is allowed to change the livery it inherited. I think the franchise stated trains must remain in the late Connex livery which the GoVia boss described in a recent interview as "vanilla". I think the High Speed livery was stipulated too.

I don't know how long SouthEastern's franchise has left to run or if there comes a time when the existing paintwork is in such a state they can introduce a new livery.

I'm not sure. I know they've repainted the grey skirt and yellow doors blue on some units but it seems to have taken a long time. If you heard the 375s are getting a full repaint then I guess the rule has expired. If they are repainting then I'd preferred they'd kept to the green Southern and London Midland house colours but with the high speed units and stations signs in blue I can't see this happening.

I havent heard anything about a full repaint, I just think if there was a rule like you say, surely theyve already broken it, because as far as Im aware the livery they put on the 375s was the poposed one.

I doubt they'll use green - They'd have to change everything to match then: Signs, website, etc, otherwise it would look odd!

Not a clue.

I didn't think you could vynal a whole door so I would have thought they were painted. But the stripes probably vynal. The rest of the train looked very sparkaly white, but that might just be because it had had a wash.

Well, you can vinyl a whole train (XCs Voyagers are vinyled not painted into XC livery, which is why the roofs are still red). So a door wouldn't be an issue.

Not to mention a 1930s Gresley LNER corridor composite at the Severn Valley which has NSE moquette in the first class compartments.

With regards to livery changes, if SET can't change the livery on their trains, how come all the 508/2s were reliveried from Connex Yellow to the old/new (with purple doors) SET livery before their withdrawal?

Also there are a few 375s in a new livery with purple doors ....

I'm only quoting what I can remember but in the grand scheme of things changing the colour of the skirt and doors (which may be vinyl) isn't a huge change. Compare that to National Express, East Midlands Trains and GoVia's own London Midland. Not exactly a radical
revamp and like I say it's taken a long time!

I think the interview was in Rail. The boss also mentioned they'd considered maroon for London Midland but it fades badly. Perhaps he was referring to the mainly White livery having to remain on SE.

The 465 is my regular train. My station seems to get far more of them since the December 2009 timetable change - we used to get mostly 376s.

They are solid trains but the facelift is needed. One thing they could do with is more handles for standing passengers. It's very hard to get people to "move down" because there are big bays of six facing seats with nothing for standing people to hold on to (unless they can reach the grab rail at luggage rack level).

I remember one of the SE incarnations, possibly the SRA-run service, removing one bank of seats to make 2+2 seating in one carriage of the a Networker to evaluate passengers' reactions. They were distinguishable by the same maroon seat covering as the 365s.

I'm not sure if this same unit later became one of the 465/9s or if it reverted to standard layout.

Maybe the paint on the trains was still under warranty preventing any changes, when the warranty runs out the they can be repainted/vinyled.
Paint can have up to a 10 year warranty.

This was supposed to have happened on 466017, but on the amount of times this unit ran on my local line, I didn't notice any differences.

That's a good point about the paint warranties. I presume the Networkers were originally painted in NSE toothpaste livery albeit with a largely white base coat?IIRC Connex were one of the first TOC's to vinyl. The Networkers received the yellow skirt while the NSE blue window surrounds remained largely untouched other than white vinyls at either end and above the windows to cover the red. By contrast slam door stock on both franchises were repainted white but were often seen without vinyls because of adhesive problems. The 455s and one 456 on CSC were also repainted. It wasn't until the tail end of the Connex SE franchise that the Networkers began to receive the mostly white livery with grey skirt and yellow doors. I'm not sure when the repaints began and ended but can it really be a decade already? How time flies!

A few months ago one of the regular posters to this forum Photoshopped a Networker in Southern green which appeared to suit the Networker's curved shape.

I had no luck searching the forum and Googling the post. It was quite a long thread of ficticious liveries featuring everything from Southern Networkers to NSE 395s!
