8013 is the first unit back from its C6 overhaul.

Despite SWT claiming it would be a "refresh" it does in fact only appear to be an overhaul. The standard class seat trim has been renewed, as has the flooring. Trouble is the flooring is the same as before - brightly coloured, soft, rough-finish rubber, which becomes impossible to clean and wears quickly. The toilets have been left untouched, not even cleaned.

The exterior paintwork has been given a clean and it has come up like new - it's lasting much better than on the early 450s.

If the five-car project goes ahead I imagine that, apart from the additional 460 trailer, little other work would be undertaken over and above the overhaul.

Will SWT refurbish the 456s and is it agreed the 456s will move to SWT yet? AFAIK it is not and hangs with the 460s question

SN don't seem to have publicly acknowledged that the 456s will go off lease, in fact the main source for the 460 return was the Sussex RUS until covered in this months Modern Railways interview with SN's ops director.

As I see it, the possible 456 move is pretty much unrelated to the 460/458 proposals, as they are about separate solutions. One outer suburban, and one inner suburban, so neither actually requires the other to happen.
