Class 455 on the WLL?

Today whilst travelling on the GWML I could have sworn I saw a Southern Liveried Class 455 on the WLL at Acton Wharf Junction. I thought it could be for Route learning duties but then why would Southern use a 455?

How bizarre, are you sure it wasnt a 171?

I'm not even sure if the WLL has 3rd-rail electrification at Acton Wharf Junction, so the 455 may not have been able to move under its own power.

I'm sure it wasn't a 171. It appeared to be a 455, it was not moving.

Since the chord to Ealing Broadway isn't even electrified I can't imagine Southern would have been using it on driver-training duties.

There's a very slim possibility that it was standing in for a failed LOROL 378 but since the third rail only goes to Kensington Olympia the 455 could not have gone to Willesden Junction. I'm not even sure 455 drivers are cleared for the WLL unless there's a pilotman on board.

313 could have been but It looked like a 455. Does anyone know whether all the destined Southern Class 313 units are at Lovers Walk Depot? That could clear things up abit.

The third rail goes beyond Shepherd's Bush, the change-over is near to North Pole Depot.

Shouldn't think there would be a problem with drivers or stock clearance, 455s used to work CLJ - KPA shuttles quite often.

Mitre Bridge Jct is the changeover, which is just outside North Pole depot.

Apologies if this is completely wrong, but werent Southern 313's being stored at the PRDC? Could one of these, transferring down south, have been spotted using the WLL?

The 313s do most likely go via the WLL after the refreshes at Wolverton.

That is correct they go down via WLL. Its the quickest and cheapest way to go as they can run under their own power.

You probably saw the 455 doing shephards bush shuttles as there has been a few doing the shuttles other the weekend while lorol have engineering works

From the start of the summer timetable
2B29: 1000 Olympia to Wandsworth Rd and
2M48: 1612 Wandsworth Rd to Olympia are formed of a 455. Train is currently a Lovers Walk 377 in the morning and a Selhurst 377 in the afternoon.

455 833 formed the 0835 South Croydon-Shepherd's Bush this AM.

Although it actually started at East Croydon; although the trains are in the system as going to/starting at South Croydon, these stops are cancelled every day.

I suspect, reading back, that you confused everyone by referring to Acton Wharf Jn. That isn't electrified DC.

So if you'd been more accurate with the location maybe?
