Well they have changed yet again as guards are allowed to do a full door release before opening the local door if their route knowledge is sufficient to be certain your train is fully accommodated. Personally I do it the old fashioned way.
Yeah I have had a few (new) guards* doing that but all the old hands still do it the old way (except one), of course my way now becomes the best for safety and speed rather than opening from the saloon.
* How a new guards RK is up to that I have no idea, and I always say to them what happens when you release the doors and there is a door off the back, who is up in front of Manglement? They then start doing it the old way, I wonder why that is?
The new way just seems to be a way of speeding things up but if Manglement were sensible then there wouldnt be a problem, the reason it is so slow is because they kept coming up with extra stuff the guard has to do which slowed the whole job down.
I have a funny feeling that as more guards start doing the new method (and incidents rise) then Manglement will look round and say it would be no different if the driver released the doors instead of the guard!
