Class 450 and 455 serving Hounslow

I went to Hounslow today, and it seemed all trains were class 455s. When I last rode that line in 2006, there were at least some class 450s on it.

I wonder when this changed? My hunch was that Weybridge via Hounslow trains would be 450s and Hounslow/ Twickenham loop 455s. This was not the case today.

The Hounslow loop services inc the Weybridge services normally are diagrammed with Class 450 Desiros, though during weekends it is not uncommon to find a 4 car 455 in their place. We currently have a shortage of 450s as they are having work done to their wheelsets, so that may be your reason there too.

It seems, from my experience, to be a weekend thing.

In the past I've always past a 450 waiting at Virginia Water in the mornings, but when I travelled back from Barnes one very cold Feb Sunday it was a 455.

Thank you for sharing your experiences on this line. My previous trip was on a Friday (14.7.06 in case you're curious), so maybe that was why 450s were out in force there then.

I thought they used 455s mostly on weekends because they are cheaper to run?
