Class 444 Stopping Distances

Hello,

I am looking to become a train driver when I am older, and was looking at doing some preparation for the job. One thing that came to mind was knowing the stopping distances, but I would be happy with any information that a driver of a Class 444 would be able to give me. Thank you.

You don't need to know this at all. Worry about the things which will help you pass the assessments and interviews.

Hell, I drive Electrostars and I don't even know what the stopping distance is - you just know when to brake through the many months of intense training, not by knowing how many metres a full service application will take the train to stop.

Knowing things like stopping distances in advance isn't likely to help you much - you're much better off looking in the careers section at the kind of experiences and skills they look for in potential future driving candidates.

As a ball park you'd probably be looking at ~1000m to stop a modern EMU from 100mph at maximum deceleration.
