The Branch Line Society is delighted to announce a short notice but 'last chance' charter train in conjunction with Govia Thameslink Railway's 'Southern' operation to say farewell to the Class 442s. The tour will traverse unusual lines in the South East including Streatham Hill Up Sidings, Three Bridges Down Sidings, Brighton Lovers Walk depot, Selhurst depot and the approach to Stewarts Lane TMD. The train will be formed, at least, of a 5-car Class 442 EMU (2402 or 2410). It is expected there will be a service of cold drinks, snacks and light refreshments. A souvenir map, ticket and comprehensive tour brochure will aid your enjoyment of the day. All profits will be donated to Southern's nominated charities Embrace (a group for special needs and disabled children, promoting inclusion and improving life skills and opportunities through clubs, outreach and advocacy) and Keech Hospice (which provides hospice care for adults and children with life-limiting and terminal illnesses).

Our ROUTE, validated by GTR and bid to Network Rail, is as follows:

NOTE: All timings and routing are provisional and subject to clearance and operational constraints on the day.

I have already booked, hopefully the weather will be nice. Will leave the train early at Victoria I think as 12 hours on a 442 is a bit long, even for me.
I am looking forward to a final 442 bash including a trip into streatham lovers walk and hove sidings

Hopefully they'll remove the window bars, because obviously, not everyone can have a window seat. I am looking forward to a final 442 bash including a trip into streatham lovers walk and hove sidings

Given that the bars are there owing to a fatality when an enthusiast was leaning out, I think there is no chance that they would be removed for a unit full of enthusiasts!!

Will give this one a miss just it being on a Sunday rules it out for me - there's probably engineering works somewhere on the SWML on that day. Then there's getting across London to Victoria and finally the late finish, which would probably require an overnight stay in London. I'm still hoping that we could see a Weymouth-London farewell tour but don't hold out much hope that one would happen

I cannot get access to the link at the moment, so could you advise what date is proposed for this, please?

Can anyone tell me if I can get an advance ticket from Brighton to London Victoria from a ticket office?
I notice on national enquiries website ite £5 each way.
I have paid 44.20 for my ticket on 442 tour but fear I may have another £20 to pay to get there and back.
I cannot pay online with credit card must be cash.
Many thanks

That's fine, select a ticket office and explain your ticketing requirements - they'll be able to offer the best value fare, including advance tickets.

Before you book advance tickets, make sure you get confirmation that you have been booked onto the tour :)

And ensure you have enough of a cushion in case of delays or change of timings

I believe that BLS are going to have a system in place ,where you can book on line.

Yeah I asked them for their bank details to pay with direct bank transfer.
I have a bank account saver which doesnt give me a credit debit card so I can only make bank transfer to a recipient or paypal.
This makes online bookings very difficult for me.

I am getting the 082X out of Brighton for Victoria, getting me to Victoria around 0930. Would of preferred to get out of bed a bit later but it will be cutting it close - I dont want to take any chances with southern rail.
Not that it matters, because it goes back to victoria straight after streatham, but it would be nice to make the most of my 44.20 + advance ticket BTN-VIC, plus petrol, plus brighton station parking charges

I would imagine brighton station car parking (if anything like other car parks within brighton) will be more than the tickets.

Yeah but Im not taking my chances on the bus ;)
I know a carpark for about £1/hour near the station, Im going to be nearly 12 hours i'd imagine, it could be cheaper on a sunday

It's not showing on RTT yet, will it likely only show up on RTT a couple of days beforehand?

Sounds like it will be a good day :)

This is when SWT will suddenly announce engineering works for the weekend closing the lines in the Basingstoke area
