Nearly the first, and the last of the class. Didn't realise they were still lurking at Laira.

Both are fairly regular performers on the Castle sets. Always pleased to see 004 as it is an old favourite of mine.

Reported on WNXX that 43311 moved by road from Mid Norfolk Railway to EMR Kingsbury on 7th while on 5th 43315 was seen on the A14 from Mid Norfolk Railway, it was thought to be on the way to Nemesis Burton but possibly to EMR Kingsbury, meanwhile 43091 was reported as on the move from Plym Valley Railway by road

Isn’t there a decent scam to be had flogging powercars to Mexico, then keeping a few back for ‘spares’ and flogging the parts for an eye watering amount when they’re needed over there?

That's depressing. 43311 was always one I followed having it in model form.

I might have to mute this thread

I don't see that as being a 'scam' at all, it's called business, maybe the Mexicans specified the number of power cars they wanted to buy which didn't include hulks for them to strip for spare parts. 43311 was pictured on the back of a lorry at EMR so I doubt there's any retrieval work going on there so available parts may already have been despatched to Mexico or sold to other power car users, as for 'eye watering amounts' do you have access to a parts availability catalogue and price list?

I'd suggest wearing dark glasses if you log into the WNXX Traction News page 8-)

There are two power cars in Mexico - 43158 and 43295 - that are used as spares donors.

Can anyone confirm the destination of 43315?

It’s 311, if you look at other images on Flickr you can see the gangway is bent the same and other similarities

The large bodyside grills are beside the cooler group, not the engine - the engine is further forward and cannot be seen from outside.
Although, given that the roof panels are missing, it would be reasonable to suggest that the power unit has indeed probably gone!

Todays WNXX update, 43311 & 43315 were due to go to Nemesis Burton but 'problems' organising their moves resulted in them both going to EMR Kingsbury

Likely candidates for scrap are 43174 & 43191 from Mid Norfolk Railway

Do we know how many 43s have now been scrapped in total? Wikipedia thinks 27, but I'm pretty sure that hasn't been updated for several months.
I am by no means an oracle but my records suggest 30 have been scrapped, if we are including 311 and 315 in that

That list on Wikidribble is utter garbage, being both out of date and some utter howlers (43170 listed as both exported and scrapped, for example).
