Are these all Romic owned now?Reported on WNXX that 37501 & 37800 took 43190, 43309 & 43310 from Ely Papworth to Mid Norfolk Railway yesterday
Yes.Are these all Romic owned now?
Any idea why these were moved?Yes.
Also on the move yesterday was 8 Mk3s (2x Castle Sets) from Laira to Carnforth.
Vehicles on the move were:
49103/48110/48111/48112/48130/48149/48102/49104

Both are now currently debranded. So potentially sold or donated. Expect movement soon.43154 - West Somerset. Warm Store
43155 - West Somerset. Warm Store
Carnforth bound, as I understand it.Both are now currently debranded. So potentially sold or donated. Expect movement soon.
Any idea why? I know the (2?) sets went to Carnforth recently with the 47s but what's the purpose? WCRC making their own Pullman?Carnforth bound, as I understand it.
It’s not going to be much of a Pullman with GWR pack-em-in standard class seating and no catering!Any idea why? I know the (2?) sets went to Carnforth recently with the 47s but what's the purpose? WCRC making their own Pullman?![]()
I have heard a few whispers that WCRC are looking at the success of LSL's Pullman (and Statesman / Saphos / Steam Dreams) operation and considering competing with itAny idea why? I know the (2?) sets went to Carnforth recently with the 47s but what's the purpose? WCRC making their own Pullman?![]()
They have one hell of a lot of work to do on the set if that is the case - no catering vehicle and standrad class only seats. They will have to gut the thing and start again to get a "Pullman" standard train - LSL got in at the right time and bought suitable vehicles when they were available.I have heard a few whispers that WCRC are looking at the success of LSL's Pullman (and Statesman / Saphos / Steam Dreams) operation and considering competing with it

Well that's very interesting. Now what would a HST look like in WCRC Maroon...I have heard a few whispers that WCRC are looking at the success of LSL's Pullman (and Statesman / Saphos / Steam Dreams) operation and considering competing with it
My thoughts exactly!WCRC Style

Awful the same as everything else in WCRC doesMy thoughts exactly!
Well yes. LSL have eight power cars plus 43083, so recognise they need spare powercars. If WCR are entering the HST game they will need more than two power carsm but they probably already know that and are planning for it.They have one hell of a lot of work to do on the set if that is the case - no catering vehicle and standrad class only seats. Really hope my LNER powercars get luckyWell yes. LSL have eight power cars plus 43083, so recognise they need spare powercars. If WCR are entering the HST game they will need more than two power carsm but they probably already know that and are planning for it.
Your LNER power cars are 1. Not in good condition and 2. Less use to WCRC as they have taken sliding door stock.Really hope my LNER powercars get lucky
Have the ones at Norfolk all been/are being stripped?
I can't watch anymore43174, 191, 315 all being harvested on the Mid Norfolk and look set to be heading for scrap shortly.
Yeah I am taking what I have heard with a mound of salt, never mind a pinch. As you say, it feels like WCRC have missed the boat with this one as there isn't the sort of stock available that was there when LSL made their decision to create their sets. I'm not sure it is a wise move for WCRC to invest in competing with LSL anyway - everything LSL does comes across as incredibly professional with a high standard of work involved. Everything WCRC seems to do right now is quite the opposite! They have one hell of a lot of work to do on the set if that is the case - no catering vehicle and standrad class only seats. At least that means there won't be CDL issues2. Less use to WCRC as they have taken sliding door stock.
Unfortunately I will still be in denial even long after they've been cut upYour LNER power cars are 1. Not in good condition and 2. Less use to WCRC as they have taken sliding door stock.
Replace CDL issues with sliding door issues........At least that means there won't be CDL issues![]()

I have to agree if the Master Cutler was anything to go by. Well appointed stock and brilliant on-train staff.Yeah I am taking what I have heard with a mound of salt, never mind a pinch. And they never drop that standard. I've said it many times before but I was amazed when I did that pacer tour a couple of years ago and the staff stepped off the pacer in their usual high class uniform and welcomed everybody on board as though we were stepping onto one of their high end dining trains. WCRC will have a lot to do if they want to come close to matching this standardI have to agree if the Master Cutler was anything to go by. Well appointed stock and brilliant on-train staff.
You get what you pay for and with LSL you do tend to pay a lot!And they never drop that standard. That is true. You get what you pay for and with LSL you do tend to pay a lot!
43s are probably less problematic than the coaches. Corrosion from below and leaky roofs from corrosion above, just ask Scotrail. Even at their prices I wonder how long LSL can do it.
Are the VP185 powercars more reliable? That is true.
Maybe though, Arlington will be welding much more corrugated steel into the roofs of the Mk3s in the fullness of time, especially if those cars are considered the backbone corn earners in the future. I think LSL was really quite shrewd in snapping up the VP185 power cars as they came out of service with EMT
