Ah so it was a name painted on by an enthusiast - no wonder I can’t find a
Photograph !
I found out some more info and things get interesting:
The first unoffical namer he did was in fact 'Dracula' in late 1977, so it did carry the name.
He then began to paint the offical names on the 40s, these were never painted over. He still has the templates to this day and there is photo from last October of him with them.
Then he found out using paint stripper he could uncover pre-TOPS number, like 40 012 - 212, these were not painted over as at the TOPS number would be on the same side.
Also he applied numbers to the nose of the loco using numbers from a car number plate shop, this was to aid photographers and prove to others you had taken a photo of the loco if the number could not be seen.
I believe a photograph appeared in the railway press - either Railway World or Railway Magazine.
The info above comes from an interview but unsure of which magazine, I thought Railway magazine at first.
