That's inset sliding doors to reduce the rate of failure ... something that would not be good on the CTRL!

The 'theory' is proven on the Electrostar series.

Yeah but look at Pendo's and Meridians.... And to have Single doors has always made me wonder about people squeezing into them.

I presume you mean that the 376s which have sliding doors suffer less door related problems than the other Electrostars with plug doors. Wouldn't suprise me since plug doors are a very complicated mechanism and require strong and firm locking (since either the suction effect from a passing train or a passenger leaning on them is trying to force them open).
Oviously having these doors does have some airodynamic effect, but then no train, and few vehicles, is close to being airodynamically perfect from the point of view of minimum drag, infact it doesn't become a big deal until much higher speeds anyway. Of cource, by high speed train standards they are quite slow at just 140mph anyway, many countries have run trains at this speed or higher for years now, and we've already had/got 3 trains that could/could have run at 140mph or even faster in normal service (APT, 225, 390).
The cab does look good, more of a continental feel to it than a British unit. Oviously it's going to be quite complicated, for a start having 3 signalling systems (AWS/TPWS for running in Kent, TVM430 for the CTRL and KVB for St Pancras).

Don't like the cab to be honest, think it it far to European. It reminds me of the 373 cabs, which I don't like. I'm one for the Pendolino/Voyager/Turbostar style cabs...

Each to their own though, as they say!

Same here, I visually compared it to a 373 Cab and it is quite similar.

I must admit it's not the most aesthetically pleasing cab in the world.

IMO the TBC looks like it has come from a Desiro!
