Hi all, a mate of mine is getting into the railways and has set up a YouTube channel. He has asked me about the Class 390 Pendolino fleet. I’ve managed to get the numbers of them all off the top of my head which was pretty remarkable as the 9 and 11 cars don’t follow any logical order!
However, the tricky part is the names…..! I’ve got a few off memory and a couple off Wikipedia which I was fairly sure about and confirmed, but obviously Wikipedia isn’t always accurate (for example 390006 is “Rethink Mental Illness” but isn’t listed).
So…..do any of you knowledgeable folks on here have a current list of names carried by the Pendolino fleet? Big ask I know so thank you very much in advance for your assistance!!!

Fantastic, thanks folks!

Out of interest, do you happen to know if 390125 still carries that name? A lot of the 390s carried “Virgin <<name>>” plates pre-Avanti days; seems unusual that 390125 would still carry an “out of date” name, unless of course it’s a nod to its previous days!

I was the announcer that announced the naming of 390001 Bee Together over the PA at the ceremony at Manchester Piccadilly. So I know that one at least :D

No, it was de-named around 2020.
Thought it may have been, particularly as that was the first one to go through the refurb at Widnes!

Some of the history is also available on Wikipedia (as much as it can be believed)
Always very sceptical of Wikipedia - it’s not always known for its accuracy unfortunately!!!

I believe the first Avanti service out of London Euston back in December 2019 was operated by 390125 still carrying its "Virgin Stagecoach" nameplate stickers. I wonder if that was a deliberate move by Virgin Trains the night before to position that one in order to work the first morning service under Avanti?

Interesting theory, and not at all surprising if it was indeed a deliberate “parting shot” ploy!!!

At least two 390s also have names painted on their nose-ends! I think Alison and Brett. I’ve not discovered the significance of those (not that I’ve looked).

390129 has Brett on its nose ends, I believe it’s in memory of a employee who sadly passed away, it’s nice to see my name on a train so hence why I know this :D

I’ve just checked and 390115 is the one with Alison on its noses.
