Hi all. Myself and a friend decided to drive down to Carstairs station to take the first photographs of the new Class 380 fleet working under their own power while working test runs from Polmadie. Sets 105 + 106 were the first pair out of the 38 new train sets to go on the four test runs between Polmadie and Carstairs starting from 21.30 and making four return trips to and from Carstairs. As well as capturing the first photographs of the Class 380s a Mentor test train working from Derby - Ayr, consisting of two Class 37s (607 + 611) was looped at the station. Photographs can be found below.

I was really impressed myself actually. Everything was working fine and dandy with sets the sets last night according to my driver friend John Thompson so lets hope Siemens can keep up the reliability in this fleet, the way they have done with the rest of the fleet which are operating on the British Rails.

Some information for you all. The same sets are making two return trips from Glasgow Central - Gourock tonight and then two return trips to and from Central - Ayr. The sets depart E.C.S. from Polmadie at 21.30 this evening so go out and get some of the first photographs of the new fleet being introduced on the Scottish rails if you can:)

Cheers

Jonathan
