Class 380's and other Electric Desiro's

Hi, I was just wondering if anybody has been on both the 380's and any of the 350, 360 or 450's. If so how does this new body design compare with the older types and how would you rate the 380 next to these?

Also, with Siemens trying to launch the new generation 'Desiro City' for Thameslink/Crossrail, does that mean the 380's body design will be a one off?

Comparing the Class 350/1 and Class 380

The seating is much better in the Class 380, with increased legroom and width
The majority of seating groups line up well wih the windows, giving good external views
However, the majority of seating groups are 2+2, with no airline style, which still results in many people sitting offset resulting in poor coach occupancy

There are also no tables and limited numbers of power points for laptops in the Class 380

Performance wise the Class 350 appears to be slightly better, but that is probably more due to the track standard between Crewe and Rugby (the section I travelled over)

There are tables on the 380 when sitting in a group of 4 section, when sitting in the two by two rows they are on the seat backs. Even the fold up seating at the toilet has a fold out table.

They are the small triangular variety rather than the full size table found in the 350/1.

Same as the Class 318 (and the Class 101 if anyone remembers them), it is more of a shelf
There is no way it can be used for reading or writing documents, or working with a laptop, as you would on a Class 170
I was easily able to work on my laptop on a table in a Class 350/1

In the Class 350/1 I only noticed power points in First Class
