With the 377/5 and 377/1 now working on the Southeastern network. Are they compatible to work together now with 375's ? I was under the impression that wasn't possible when they where with Southern. But I might be wrong. Someone care to enlighten me.

I think that they are working on self-contained diagrams. They shouldn't need to couple to any 375s in service, and in the event of needing to assist a 375 train, they should be able to isolate the electrics to do that.

Surely southeastern would want them to be compatible with there 375’s considering they will be working the same services etc.. doesn’t it restrict them not to be able to work together. ??

Yes, but not much. Especially if the same pair stay together most of the time. Particularly if they have got to start and end their day at Selhurst unlike the 375.

I've just checked the manual.

As I thought, there are certain electrical systems which will not work, and it should be done for assistance only.

The electrical coupling would normally be made as usual.

From a passenger use perspective, the unit would not automatically use SDO at short platforms.

I believe you'd also have to have a guard on any such combination, as the units would not be suitable for DOO.

I believe there was a 377/375 combo that ran to Ramsgate depot the other week so a connection is possible, just that its not needed in service.
