They do the changeover at a place where they would be stopped or going very slowly anyway, because the SN and WCML legs of the route are not ideally synchronised, and they need to waste a bit of time between Shepherds Bush and Wembley anyway.

Unless/until the timetables were completely recast, (which is needed for the 2 tph service eventually), I think the AC/DC changeover has no detrimental effect on the timetabling.

2 journeys on the WLL today and had 377/2's on both, yet yesterday saw both the same services and they had 377/7's on but was travelling a different route. Will they keep swapping with 377/2's so the diagrams with 377/7's will change each day?

That makes sense - I did notice quite a gap in the timetable for those routes, so hopefully they get that better synchronised for 2tph operation.

Is it not labelled a luggage space? There's a gap like this on 357s that's intended for luggage, but really in peak periods it's an extra hole for someone to stand in! How easy it'd be to get luggage from the doorway through the rows of 3+2 to get to the back of the carriage I'm not all that sure...

It is part of the design and a safety requirement to have a crumple zone between the bulkhead and the first row of seats.

After travelling on 377 703 yesterday, aside from the slightly harder seats, I rather like the 377/7s.

Power sockets, nicer airline tables, compared to the /2s, and the 379 bodyshell is better at absorbing the wind whenever a Pendolino or 66 rushes by.

Pretty much every passenger on-board commented on the swish new trains when the guard came by. According to some staff, there's rumours that the 8 car trains will divide en-route at Watford Junction instead of continuing to MKC now.

Also saw one of the /7s go past near Bletchley. I presume it was one of the ones out for testing?

Seen reports today that 10 car 377/7 will work the 1812 London Bridge to Littlehampton tonight. Odd place for them to go!

It would make sense to split the 8 carriage trains at Watford. It probably goes from 90% capacity to 40% on the trains arriving around 17.20 and 19.20. Don't know about the 18.20, it's too much of a risk to be stranded with no space to get on.

8 carriages are needed on 2 runs a day at present. Otherwise the 5 cars are reasonable.

The plan is to keep the 8 car together all day. Splitting on route isn't that easy as you need an extra driver to travel pass from Clapham for no real benefit.

As there's only going to be one 8-car set out the unit detached would just be sitting around at Watford waiting for the other unit to return from Milton Keynes anyway.

Just experienced the new 377s on the MK to Clapham route. Beats the Siemens product hands down. A lot quieter, air con that doesn't blow your ears out (or bang in and out at a neutral section), much better ambiance and bogies that don't rattle around. Well done Derby!

The 377/6s don't seem to be falling apart. So far the build quality appears to be better than the 379s. I know there have been reported problems with reliability but hopefully that will improve with time, as it usually does with new trains.

A 377/7 also working 0713 Milton Keynes Central to South Croydon but indistinguishable through the railings at Wembley Central as I went past.

377203 0813 Milton Keynes Central to South Croydon so no full takeover this Saturday

I rode 377 704 from London Victoria to Whyteleafe onn the 11.13 last Saturday, 28th June. I later rode 377 615 from Thornton Heath to West Croydon. Ironically I had to shun 377 704 (and a 455) to locate this 377/6!

The rides were pretty similar though.

Assuming you mean the Westfield at Shepherds Bush NOT the one at Stratford. They could be on their way back to Stewarts Lane after test runs on the West Coast Main Line. I have seen pairs of 377/7s resting at Wembley yard (I mean the yard nearest to Wembley Station) during the day between test runs to somewhere like Rugby. The last pair doing that was 377701 and 377706 and I think 377707 and 377708 are the last two to be delivered and so-far untested. Otherwise I think it is fairly rare (never ?) for them to work in pairs on service trains from Clapham Junction towards/beyond Willesden Junction. Bear in mind it could always be possible to see a pair of 377/7s on one of the many workings that are meant to be 377/6 diagrams on Southern Metro routes - but not off Southern territory.

Yes they passed Shepherd's Bush eastbound in between service trains which made me wonder if they were being delivered or on test as I did not see them out earlier in the day.

Sods law, I popped in to grab a coffee and they turned up !!
