That's a very good point, that must have been one of the oldest liveries still in use.And the end of Connex livery.

I'd argue that, other than AC and toilets, what has been done is more significant than was done with other classes elsewhere. For example the C2C 357s interiors were completely untouched in their so-called refurbishment. No power sockets for example.YouTuber @networknathan gives a balanced assessment of the refreshed trains here
I think he’s right when it comes to the ‘missed opportunity’ in not including air conditioning or toilets. Rail buffs like us know it wasn’t a full refurbishment, but occasional travellers might be pleased when they see what appears to be a new train coming into the platform this summer… only to find the sweaty ride into London is still the same !

On the short journeys they are used for, being able to charge phones isn't that important, while very few people will be using laptops!Power sockets or USB charging points might be nice but much less important than air condition. I thing companies overstating those details, just because they are cheap to add.
You may say that, but I was on one last week and was using a laptop and yes, would have plugged in had it been a refreshed one. Have also previously plugged in on a 707 on similar journeys. Meanwhile it seems crazy to think 375s didn't have sockets until relatively recently, invaluable (like in that case, yesterday). On the short journeys they are used for, being able to charge phones isn't that important, while very few people will be using laptops!
It seems SE passengers have been the victim of penny-pinching twice: the first when Connex ordered the units without AC, and the second when SE now still won't refit them with AC.Yep what really matters is the two things they havn't added. This stock is horrible in spring and summer as the windows are hopelessly poor at getting any sort of airflow unlike other non-AC stock.
Yes it is. It's a tribute to a late key man from Alstom.376029 also has a name which I had never noticed before: “Tom Wild”
Anyone know if this is a new addition?
What, if you don't mind me asking, is a "key man".Yes it is. It's a tribute to a late key man from Alstom.

Ah, ok TY. For some reason l was thinking it was some sort of actual technical role....One of their senior engineers, and highly respected.
I agree. I'm honestly really impressed overall. After so long of waiting and them not being treated at all, I think it was worth it. I grew up with 376s in their previous state and so of course I have strong nostalgia for them, but even I can say that this is much, much better now and would never go back. It's night and day. Surprisingly comfy as well, more than even other newer trains and the 707s definitely, which don't have plug sockets, mind you! The Networkers will probably never get this level of treatment, and never have.I'd argue that, other than AC and toilets, what has been done is more significant than was done with other classes elsewhere. 707s do have plug sockets, though they are between the seats rather than on the dado panels so perhaps not so obvious. They are however just three pin plugs rather than the newer style assembies with USBs that the 376s (and 375s) sport.I agree. I'm honestly really impressed overall. Ahhh ok, thanks for correcting me on that! That's good to know. I've been thinking recently how very few trains (at least where I travel) have charging ports, let alone latest types, but that's off topic.707s do have plug sockets, though they are between the seats rather than on the dado panels so perhaps not so obvious. Tom was my brother in law. Senior engineer from Eversholt rail. We saw the unveiling of the named train today Cannon Street! It was an incredible tribute to him. 376 was the first train he worked on.Yes it is. It's a tribute to a late key man from Alstom.
Apologies, Eversholt, of course. Highly respected in any case, from what I understand from a distance.Tom was my brother in law. Senior engineer from Eversholt rail. Agreed. It feels like a bit of a bare minimum refresh, while the longer term plan for the Southeastern routes are formulated.I'm not sure I follow, you are impressed with the class 376?
I despise those units. Uncomfortable seats, disgustingly hot in the summer, no toilets etc. And the "refurbishment" doesn't address any of the above. It is really just a deep clean and light refresh.
No amount of clever PR is going to change that.
Ok fair enough. I mean I find the seats quite comfortable honestly. Yeah it sucks there's no ac or toilets, but otherwise they replaced the handrails, seat covers are newer, lights are much brighter, that's a lot they changed I'd say. Before they felt damp and dirty and kinda run down and just didn't feel that pleasant or appealing to sit in, though nor like the networkers but still not very good. If you read my post before this I say this stuff also.I'm not sure I follow, you are impressed with the class 376?
