As nice as blue on the outside is these things need cool air! Unbearable throughout this spring and summer. I wish I was privy to how much it would cost and why it's not being done. Add them and it'd be an ideal metro high capacity train. The only Electrostar sub class out of many without it

Crazy thing is it puts people off using the entire network. When Networker replacements come along they and the 707s will have it but a risk these things turn up boiling hot. Will detract from the whole network/brand for years to come when it comes to growing leisure market. Better off driving or using liz line etc given a chance.

The Liz Line is an attractive way into London, even from areas not directly on it, as apart from the aircon, it's more frequent and cheaper than National Rail services, especially if you're taking a bus to get to the station anyway.

Think it might time to move on from comparisons with Crossrail as this is a thread about the Class 376 refurb and, as far as I'm aware, they're not going to be going through the Crossrail core any time soon

Much as I agree with the sentiment re. the 376s, I suspect the last paragraph is very wide of the mark. Relatively few SE journeys are going to be undertaken by car instead, and it’s a largely captive market. Sadly it seems likely that the majority of the SE metro fleet will remain without aircon for the foreseeable, pending possible networker replacement.

The 376s are now circa. twenty years old, so this “upgrade”, sans aircon of course, will see them through until they’re roughly the same age the networkers now are, and replacements are being talked about.

I meant areas where both Southeastern and the Elizabeth line are a feasible choice which is a sizeable area of Greenwich and Bexley boroughs.

The DLR will gain air con too soon and now its starting to appear in more buses. The 376s in 10-20 years without it will seem old fashioned and offputting.

It's a shame they are removing it, since it makes the nice distinction within SE's fleet of blue for long-distance and white for metro.

This was never a thing... 375s could've gone into the same livery as 465s when they were refurbed but a staff poll in 2014 voted for all over blue, and thus the brand was updated from then onwards.

I will say that from a far distance I have mistaken a blue 376 for a 707. I will agree that they are the worst trains SE has right now but they still aren't as bad as people on this thread are saying

The 150/153/158/159 will all surely go in the next 5-10 years and the latter two have somewhat flaky air con.

455s on the way out now. Merseyrail and Tyne Metro have new stock. Class 165 and 166 will last another decade? Probably a couple of deep line tubes but of mainline stock, nothing else will last as long?

Unfortunately it looks that way. I use these hot boxes regularly on Hayes line. Hate the bloody things.

Judging by the platforming 5Y95 Blackfriars to Victoria is now booked to form 2U22 Victoria to Gravesend - Suggesting this and all the subsequent workings are now booked for a Single 376.

There are a lot of red platform numbers at Victoria on the SE side around that time though, including with this service and subsequent Gravesend services, suggesting a temporary situation. What's also notable are most of the Gravesend services are leaving Victoria 3 minutes earlier than usual (xx:00 and xx:30), and hang around at Victoria for over 30 minutes, rather than 9 minutes.

Think thats a 375/377 mate, there is a toilet vestibule just behind them. Also don't think that 376s have side passenger information displays.
