Class 350 question

Some time ago a friend told me that the best way to tell a class 350/1 from a 350/2 at distance is that 350/1s have a full length yellow end connection, whereas 350/2s have only the bottom half yellow (top half black). I hadn't noticed this before, but observation seems to bear it out.

That was until I saw 350125 - this has a half yellow end connection at one end, and a normal full height one at the other end ! Does anyone know why that is ? Is it an accident repair ? It certainly doesn't look new (it fact it looks pretty grotty)

/1s have blue seats, 2/s have green seats.

I think it could be because LM are starting to fit the half and half end colours when trains are in for exams etc.

Maybe the end got damaged and the spare one they fitted was of the other type.

And how are you supposed to tell that when you see the train coming in the distance ?!

Could always get a pair of binos out and look for the number It is handy having the /1s using a bigger size of numbers than on the /2s.

Not that any technique works well when it's dark, as I found out on Monday at Coventry.

Probably. 450003 is currently running round with a full yellow connector on one end.
