This question has probably be answered so many times but are toliets being refurbed or are they just getting a new vinyl like SWR?

Not sure if this is the right thread, but I saw what looked like a LNWR-liveried Class 350 going through the Styal line this lunch time, unfortunately I could not identify the unit number, but it appeared to be operating this path:

https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/Y00359/2019-11-23/detailed

Could it have been 350403? It was definitely a 350 and had the full LNWR green and dark green livery on.

350404 ready to transfer to LN. All will be painted in LN colours before transfer. As of now 350/4s are on hire to tpe.

I have a weird feeling that the 350/3’s won’t be refurbished as the interiors still look quite new. I have seen a couple of units with the new screens & plug sockets installed without new seat cushions etc

I reckon they'll change the seat covers, it's not particularly expensive a job.

Apart from the PIS they don't need a lot else. They already had sockets, didn't they?

One has already been done, more sockets have been added and a luggage rack from the 350/4 has replaced 2 seats at each end (the 2 seats going into a 350/4 to replace a luggage rack).

I've just travelled home on the 16.55 from Milton Keynes. The front set was 350116, which had the new seat trim luggage racks where the conductors' office was and PIS screens. Externally, however, it was still in LM black & green (though with LNR names, of course).
The second set was 350375, which didn't have PIS screens.
I think that the suggestion has been that the external refurbishment happens first - clearly not.
An earlier post implied that 350s with PIS could not mult with ones not fitted - also not true, although to be fair the PIS wasn't displaying much in the way of Passenger Information beyond what the LNR logo looked like.

Back on the 23rd of November, 350102 was dragged by 57305 from Northampton to Long Marston for corrosion repair & refurbishment.

Finally got to travel on a refurbished 350/1 today, didnt get the number.

The refurb i have to say is pretty good face to face

yes they could have chosen a better material for the seats however the cushions are a lot more firm than they were before but just enough that they are still comfortable

also something I noticed as the train left the platform is that the acceleration on the refurbished units is alot faster when setting off than before. It left the station pretty quick

one issue i notices is the Old PIS sound system seems to struggle working with the new system but overall good start

To clarify, the screens won't work if the old PIS system unit was leading.....it works to a degree when the it is the leading unit.
Also, the UDS (unit de-select) doesn't make the announcements in the refurbed unit when operated from the non-refurbed unit so that restriction remains.

The refurbished units on their own dont make announcements anyway

Just catching up on this thread and seen causton's pictures of the 350/3 'refurb'. It does look like they won't bother re-covering the seats as surely they'd have done it at the same time...?

Those sockets are weird, great if there are sockets for the airline seats but they seem to have put new sockets at tables on the heating ducts and blanked off the ones built into the tables themselves which seems unnecessary - anyone know why?

The luggage racks are a worthwhile addition - if they could keep these on the Trent Valley services that would be good.

Yes they're good. As the 350/1s will have racks where the office was (albeit only in one coach) after the /2s have gone it shouldn't matter too much where they're allocated.

Not necessarily, the 350/3s are not meant to be out for refurbishment yet so the reason probably revolves around unit availability and not being able to have many units out at a time now the refurb programme is finally in full swing for the 350/1s

iam sure LNR will get round to doing a full refurb just not so soon

It is probably more about getting the 350/4s ready than the 350/3s refurbished. Just as the rack goes in the place shown in the photos, in the 350/4 a rack needs to be swapped for 2 seats somewhere.

Fair enough of course but they have basically done the full refurb minus seat covers.

102 and 103 have returned....I’ll find out what’s been done to them. 101 is still away. That one was already in the white livery but had not been refreshed internally.
