I wonder if it will carry its first passengers quietly... without fanfare or pre-announcement.

Does anyone know, will even one Class 345 car (carriage) be at the Rail Live event at Long Marston later this week?

There is no train from Liverpool St at 1035 (other than ECS to Shenfield at 1037), nor is there one from Shenfield at 1139, so if it happens I'm assuming it would be an extra run for the press.

An extra was put into the system today form Chadwell Heath to Liverpool St, but was then cancelled due to 'signalling issues'. Does this have anything to do with the 345 introduction?

005 and 007 are out testing this morning but both still have their 'Do not board' stickers on the doors.

Just the Mayor and invited guests.

I like oldsiggie's Thursday suggestion;););)

Does this apply for both 2Z04 and 2Z05 on both days?

This is the Thursday suggestion isn't it?

100% as I write this, 2Z04 is the inaugural 345 passenger run. This 'from the horse's mouth', to coin a phrase. It is not being advertised.

So I won't be told it's for the press and turned away if I went tomorrow?

It's definitely running in service today. Will be leaving Ilford around 09:10. Driver has just confirmed its for passenger service and the 'Do not Board' stickers have been removed. 005 is the unit as expected.

Excellent - I look forward to seeing how that goes, unfortunately with just the one trip out and back there's no way I can attend this one today, tomorrow is also unlikely due to the time of day but we'll see. The twitter feed are still being very cautious saying regular service is still weeks away.

Just stepped out from work for a quick hop from Liv St to Stratford and I'm quite impressed on the whole. They go like stink and feel very spacious. Not all that many seats but as has been said before, this is a people shifter not an intercity train.

Build quality feels good, nice atmosphere to the thing and the PIS is very swish. I'll be interested to see how the seats will handle on a trip from London to Shenfield though...

I have photos but others may have better ones; will upload when I'm home.

There is/was a media scrum onboard today with an awful lot of MTR staff. It is on its was back to LST. Been told this is now a daily train, at the same times each day. Not sure about weekends though.

Wonderful, I'll try my best to be let off work for a quick jolly on it tomorrow :D - look forward to seeing the media coverage this evening.
Is the PIS better than that on the 700s would you say?

There's no loading gauge on the PIS I don't think. Else it's pretty similar to the thameslink trains looks wise but shows a few different things.

It gives you a list of interchanges at each station and also a "moving train" image wears it shows wear the train is and the next few stations and the destination. Think I've seen similar systems abroad.

Hopped on board at Forest Gate on the return to Liverpool Street. Very swish!

Packed with media and various staff of course.

Without a doubt it’s going to make the experience of travelling in much less unbearable. Morning peak services are awful right now.

What’s the plan for introducing new sets into service?
