Hello, just wondered if anybody could help me with the following query. Does anybody know when the 33's had Blue Star logo's and Overhead Warning stickers applied, or did they have this from the start? Thanks.
Class 33s certainly seem to have had blue stars on the from from very early on, 1965 they had them when the locos were in green with half yellow ends. The Overhead Live Wires plates on the front only appeared from about 1980. A trawl of photos on the net may be able to narrow it down further.
I recall the fronts sometimes got so weathered that the blue stars virtually disappeared.
I guess you're either modelling or trying to date a photo.
And, before "help 'n' save-me" times, they used to take the Cliffe-Uddingsdon cement up the WCML. I have seen photos of green diesels with warning flashes but I don't recall seeing them on green Cromptons.
