Quite a lot of units have anti-scratch film on the windows - LM 350s certainly do. Yet on 323s (regardless of TOC) this seems to cause distortion of the view out. Why is this?

Are you sure this is due to the film? It is a common enough effect on windows without any contact sheet applied. I have noticed it on many windows on trains and buses although I didn't keep notes on classes.

I assume it is due to slight imperfections in the thickness of the glass panes.

I've always assumed it was the film. OK, if it's the window, what's the reason for the Class 323 windows having this problem and most others not, or at least to nothing like the same extent. On some 323s it's barely possible to look out without getting a headache.
