Transformer change.I'm sure this has been discussed previously but what was the purpose of this one going to Wolverton?

Hopefully one has been salvaged from another unit or were the original ones replaced when the traction package was upgraded to 3 phase.Transformer change.
How come 321306 has gone to Wolverton?STP 18/05 5A71 1442 Ilford - Wolverton 37800 321306

Wait so would it have the old 321 motor?Hopefully one has been salvaged from another unit or were the original ones replaced when the traction package was upgraded to 3 phase.

There are more 720s still to enter service than 317s and 321s in use which suggests it is obvious the 720s will cope. When are they expecting to have all the 720s in service? I am guessing the plan is still for all the Renatus units to be stood down presuming they have ordered enough 720s to cope.
Both transformer changesAlso of note. Possibly another one on 549L 1449 ilford E.M.U.D Depot to wolverton centre. Move taking right now. Wonder what this one is for and is it this time around maybe storage?
321326 was main transformer repair.
However another one might? Have arrived today.
Thanks for the update. Both transformer changes
The 720/5s are really rather close to having all been accepted; the 720/1s are now starting to arrive. I think only one has entered service. When all are accepted then Greater Anglia’s entire stock replacement should finally be complete.Interesting thanks. I always thought that was the plan but I had heard wispers that the order had been changed but this is obviously not the case.
Do we know when the delivery of the 720s is likely to be complete by?
Why does it matter where the component is sourced from?Hopefully one has been salvaged from another unit or were the original ones replaced when the traction package was upgraded to 3 phase.
It's a long way off. There's about 25 x /5s at Worksop that have to go back to Alstom for quality control purposes before commencing mileage accumulation. The 720/5s are really rather close to having all been accepted; the 720/1s are now starting to arrive. With the reduced service now seemingly the norm GA will break even on units required before they have all 133 on the books though. It's a long way off. There's about 25 x /5s at Worksop that have to go back to Alstom for quality control purposes before commencing mileage accumulation.
With only 64 out of 133 units in service since Dec 20, it wouldn't be a stretch to say that it will be at least a year before all of the 720s are in service.
I think it's already been said here but there's not a chance the Renatus 321s will be withdrawn until later this year especially as GA are still running a reduced peak service.
Even if it is true, and there is some information in the public domain to suggest it is, it doesn't mean the lease can't be renewed. There aren't yet enough 720s available to eliminate the remaining 321s (and 317s).Think I read somewhere here that their lease expires at the end of the month...is this true?
Won't be long now for the Northern units with the suggestion that 317s are basically finished. But no sign of them disappearing yet
The 317/5s are stood down so yes the 317s are about to retire. I think GA will want the Northern units gone asap too but I think there's less pressure on GA to hurry the Renatus units off to Ely's Train Retirement Home.Won't be long now for the Northern units with the suggestion that 317s are basically finished.
I’d suggest the 321s and 322s are less likely to go to Ely. Ely has been almost entirely used by Angel, whereas the Bins are Eversholt owned. The 317/5s are stood down so yes the 317s are about to retire. And therefore will be sent straight for scrapping like Southern's 455's ...I’d suggest the 321s and 322s are less likely to go to Ely. Ely has been almost entirely used by Angel, whereas the Bins are Eversholt owned.
Unless more go to the Swift project or preserved. The latter is unlikely though.
See this thread:May I ask what is the Swift project please, as I have not seen any mention of it?

4 x Class 321's to be converted for Swift Express Freight
Haven't seen a thread on this but Eversholt Rail and Gemini Rail Group announced on 18th November that 4 321's are to be converted to parcels use and introduced around February 2022...www.railforums.co.uk
