Bit of 321 gen for anyone out and about today. There’s one circuit running as 8 x Renatus today, 12:18 LIV St to Clacton and 14:05 return then 16:02 Ipswich I think. It is 321320+312 however 312 is running on only 2 traction motors so it was loosing time on the 12:18 down not getting above 85mph anywhere between LIV St and Colch. Also the diagram that covers 13:00 Walton on the Naze to Colchester and 13:56 return is 8 x 321 again today too, a Northern unit plus 430 which was heavily graffitied on one side of one of the driving cars.
321.320 was running with a Northern unit yesterday on the Clactons.

485 is the unit with 340 and has also been graffitied though the dark blue livery masks the tagging to a certain extent.

428 was approximately early to mid may.
However 321432 and 321429. Was last used as far as I am aware haven't seen since or have heard reports off running was on Thursday the 27th may 2021. Arrived shenfield platform one around 1120.
No sooner than 321431 and 321445 sad exit being towed to gascoigne wood.
321432 then lead 321429 ecs to clacton csd at shenfield around 1135 after changing ends ie direction off travel .
Move concerned was 5n98 1040 very short term planning from southend Victoria Carriage sidings to clacton csd.
However on that date around 1900 hours.
321402 was on top off 321405 which we know as gone last week.
With 321428 321429 and 321432 on the very rear. Also in the station sidings was 321332. And also 321419 was also near to 321402 but with its pan up and light inside but parked up at the buffers.
321431 was in traffic on monday morning.
Saw it at shenfield approx 0620 hours

Thanks for the info.

Does there have to be a special announcement when there is a NON-PRM unit arriving into the station?

There shouldn’t be a non-PRM unit running around on its own.

The screens usually show the unit with the PRM toilet.

I wonder why Worksop for these? Is Gas Wood getting full?
I'm personally surprised they aren't using the recently cleared-out sidings at Westwood Yard in Peterborough. It was hugely overgrown, and then NR cleared all the vegetation away and replaced the fence as, apparently, EMUs were due to be stored there. Nothing has arrived yet and the weeds are already returning!

I'm surprised that they aren't keeping them. Some peak trains are getting full. 12 cars would be useful.

Same here. However for the record 321407 was in warm store from early may at colchester and 321332 was the same but at clacton sidings opposite platform one.
Only very recently was they parked up ie this week at clacton C.S.D.
When I was there yesterday Wednesday 30th June 2021.
In passing both had for the first time pans down.
So I knew these where to depart very soon.
Also there is 321429. Which also hasant ran since the end off may either.
With 321427 very close by.
However. Yes agree should have been kept through.

Are the 321s still running from Liverpool Street to Clacton and Southend? I’m in London this week so I’ll have a trip out if they are.

Sorry OT I know but I didn’t think it was worth starting a separate thread (mods feel free to move though).

Yes loads to Clacton. I think there are 11 sets of stock, three pairs of 720s and eight pairs of Bins, which cycle between Clacton, Colchester Town and Ipswich. Be advised that the three pairs of 720s follow each other so three consecutive Clacton trains are 720s. The majority of pairs are formed Renatus+not Renatus so plenty of chance to sample the old school units. I don't know how many sets Southend requires but more than half are still 321s.

I have seen some double PRM 321's, not a lot though
On the 26th and 27th I saw:
433+ PRM
331+ PRM
340+ PRM
409+ PRM
333+ PRM
440+ PRM
426+ PRM
441+ PRM
PRM + PRM

That will inevitably increase as more 720s arrive, although some 321s might be kept to increase the number of 12 cars. I think September is the next service ramp up so they'll have to manage the 321 fleet carefully so as not to leave themselves short.

37884 taking 321419 + 321429 on 5Q16 09:19 CLACTNEMU to WORKSP UR 22/07/21
That's bonkers. I travelled on 321419 three months ago and it had freshly overhauled bogies. I expected it to be one of the last non PRM units to go.
