Scotrail will re-paint the fleet as and when needed - end of. As for the suggestion they ask First Group for money to paint trains out of their livery - good luck with that one!

you say the units only need a repaint if they really need it well they do need it badly as said before the spt colors are out of date regardless of what others are saying

the new logo is saltire look so therefore these livery should apply to these units and other like 318 and 314 and 320 and more 170/334 so therefore the old spt colors are out of date the new scotrail logo is new and should be applied

FOR THE LAST TIME,
it is important to run as many trains as possible at the maximum length to provide as much capcity as possible while maintaining trains to maximum standard to provide the highest fleet avaliability and reliability.

Nobody except you cares about the livery people want trains to run on time and fast and get a seat. They do not get to a station and think oh all the trains are in the same colour they must the best train company. Please stop repeating your arguements over and over again.

right I understand now

another note according to scotrail market report both 170 and 334 are next in the refurb program

and after an e-mail from scotrail they say that once the backlog of 380 delivery is completed at the end of may, beginning of june they will start on a rolling basis-of 320 refurb program one after another

at the same time they will stat on the 334 next

they also stated that in the autumn say september onwards the 318 will begin their refurb program as well

would think its the first batch of class 170s that were delivered in NX Scotrail "Swoosh" livery from 1999 - 2001... not the 170s that were delivered just before and after First took over...

good bet would be 170401-170424...

still off topic but at least its not ***ing paint! Mk3 and 66's on highland mainlines? You talk my language! I'm kind a hoping they keep the mk2 sets currently doing peak fife circles, stick a buffet car in and use on inverness's and maybe get a few more for aberdeen.

To me, turbostar to Inverness equals win for Citylink coaches!

Slight issue in that 66s don't have any equipment to supply power to coaching stock so no lights, AC or anything else powered by electricity.

Why would these be required?
There are already plans to increase the frequency between Inverness and Edinburgh (to hourly using Class 170 units) and between Perth and Glasgow (to half hourly, initially with Class 158 units)

The Class 67 and Mark 2 coaches are simply due to the lack of rolling stock, this should be solved by the next timetable (2011 - 2012), and so see the end of this contract
There is nothing about any new contracts

No they use 67s which do have ETS equipment.

No, class 67s are used on the Scottish portions of the Highland Sleeper. 66s are incapable of providing train supply to the coaches, as has been rightly said.

There are no reports of a Class 320 unit through either Doncaster, York, or Newcastle today

I heard different somebody I know has stated that it is due to leave tonight around midnight and the unit will arrive at kilmarnock around early morning then be into service by the end of the week

would be quite hard for the unit to get to kilmarnock solo... since iirc Kilmarnock isnt electrified...

the term would be Translator Van/vehicle

and the (scotrail) Translator vans they use to move class 314, 318, 320 and 322 units are vastly different from the vehicles used to drag the class 380s


also last i heard.. there was still no set release date... but today had been the most recent suggested date for release.
nor to my knowlege has there been any reports of a loco dragging the (scotrail) translator vans down to doncaster... nor have there been reports of any of GBRfs (leased) or Arlington Fleet Services' Translator vans moved up to doncaster from Tonbridge yard, or Eastleigh works

GBRf are moving the units under their own power between Glasgow and Doncaster

Diesel haulage is then used between Glasgow and Kilmarnock
The same translator vehicles are used between Glasgow and Glasgow Works

according to close contact of mine who work in this industry and his working on refurb program, they have told me that the 320 will be moved tonight around midnight because they are getting last minute preparation done before moving to the final stages at kilmarnock

Yes, They will be moved under their own power by GBRf drivers from Doncaster to Glasgow Shields Depot and then hauled by a diesel loco (Probbly a Virgin 57) to Kilmarnock.

they are being hauled up tonight so people should head down to doncaster around midnight to catch a glimpse of the unit before heading up to kilmarnock

I think around 2-3am it should arrive

once it enters service you will be seeing it in the external condition for many years... and you wont get to see the interior, and all the work thats been done.
