Class 320/318 and 156s, What do you think will replace them!

Me i think 5 Car 385s Might be built to go on Glasgow Suburb Lines aka Larkhall,Dalmuir,Motherwell and Ardrie lines, to Replace the 320s/318s... Now the Class 156 i think they will get replaced with 769s. 1. Because they have been testing Glasgow-Kilmarnock and 2. Becuase the are bi mode so that means eletric to Barrhead and then swap over and go over to Kilmarnock. Place your Thoughts.

769 very unlikely - they are actually older than the 156s (and the 320s). It will be a battery version of whatever EMUs Scotrail orders.

Who will build the EMUs (and BEMUs) has not been decided yet, although Scotrail has started to put feelers out to the industry

I cant see it being 385s replacing the 318 320 stock. It'll probably be some fixed formation five or six car 700 derivative, as the lines are metro.

I didn't think the Desiro City product was still on offer?

It's been said previously that level boarding is a priority for new procurement. So 385s or Desiro cities won't cut it, since level boarding cannot be offered purely by raising platform heights (the scale of this would cost £billions in comparison given the scale of the networks they will operate).

It will most likely be something bespoke made rather than an off the shelf tag-along order from an existing class already in service in the UK.

The Scottish Government should invite Alexander Dennis to tender to build a fleet of BEMUs to replace the 156s.
