Class 319 for Southeastern?

With another delay to the next franchise and crossrail delayed pressure on SE Metro routes wil increase.

Would the 319s be able to play a role for the next, say, 3 years as things play out? 707s were thought to be going to SE but delays to SWT Aventras could put that back.

How many 319s can operate on third rail? How many would be needed to free up and bolster 465/466s services to full 10 or 12 car (where suitable) across the Dartford and Hayes lines? Assuming class 319s could run as 12 car?

319's were being considered for Southeastern but that plan has since been dropped!

All of them if the stored shoes are fitted back on.

I think having 319s back to the South would be the same as having Pacers return to the north 5 years after they're scrapped. I think a more sensible choices may include building more Class 700s or getting the 707s.

That requires them to actually award a new franchise, which seems further away than ever.

A slight overreaction. The class319s are capable units in service with Northern, LNR and some time soon Northern, GWR and Wales (as 769s). From an SE point of view, they are 100mph dual voltage 321s or 455s and have run services in the area for decades. Pacers are totally unsuitable for any role in London's commuter land.
Much more relevant, a number of them are available now!

The 319s could however be a temporary stop gap or of refurbished fully (renatus style) a more long term solution. On the Medway services (as long as they fit) they could be useful addition.

Class 365s are 25kV AC units, therefore not much use on the 3rd Rail network, quite sure the 3rd Rail shoes have been removed

At the moment no units of any class, 319 or 365 alike, could move to Southeastern to expand the fleet size, on the grounds there is nowhere to store them. The only current expansion plan is to reopen Chart Leacon, in line with 700s to Ashford, while I doubt other stabling expansions will happen without a new franchise award, which is a shame because SE definitely needs more stock

I was always told you couldn't run 319s as 12 cars when I drove them on DC, although seeing as the platform lengths were mainly 8 car there would have been little point unless empties. I'm sure I was told it was to do with the current limit index or some infrastructure reason in the core. I stand to be corrected of course.
