The published franchise agreement for GA had a requirement to modify 26 of the 317 fleet for 2020 compliance and SDO. This would presumably not be the 317/7s though. Anyone any idea how that programme is going? Presumably gaining the GN fleet was to help with this?
There is a bit of a mish mash collection of 317s being chosen as part of this 26. They're the ones with the longest left until overhaul hence why it's not in any numerical order. Nothing's been started yet but the designs are well underway.
Anyone know whats happened to 317 722 the demonstrator last I hear it was in storage at Ilford and is only kept on standby correct me if I'm wrong.
It became a christmas tree and got robbed of basically everything. It doesn't actually run and needs loads of work to bring it back. It's pretty much been written off for use in traffic.
Something to keep in mind is that the 317s have no future. Angel plans on scrapping them when they come off lease from GA/ARL.
The fact that they're the rosco for the 720s means scrapping the 317s won't leave them with a hole in their revenue stream and, as such, there's no need to keep them. Not least because they are, in reality, past it.
