Class 315 Withdrawals

They absolutely do look ready for scrapping.

In what way? I travelled on a couple in September and they were actually pretty decent, certainly compared to some of the trains I’ve travelled on in Northern land over the last couple of years! Yes they’re old and no doubt becoming high maintenance, but I don’t look at them and think “that looks ready for scrapping”.

Anyone know why it got stuck at Northampton? Loco fault or something on the 315s?
Luckily stopped in a position where it wasn't blocking other traffic!
And will it still reach Booths tonight? Was going to walk down and photograph it here in S Yorks, but it'll be after dark now if it carries on. Hopefully they'll recess it somewhere and wait until tomorrow.

I've got it down as 6 ex LO units in store (801/802/807/809/813/815) and the rest scrapped

As LO no longer use 315s, they're all going to be stored or scrapped!

With 802/807 gone, I think that just leaves 801/815 to be disposed of.

I believe 809 has been dismantled at Wolverton Works (or is in the process of being dismantled) and 813 was sent for scrap in December 2018. 802 & 807 are also on their way for scrapping, albeit stuck at Northampton for now. Which leaves just 801 & 815 as 43096 states above.

315813 went by road from Wolverton to Booths early last year. 315802 + 315807 given a temporary stay of execution at Northampton after 37884 gave up the ghost and 315801 + 315815 are at Wembley Yard awaiting disposal

Will miss them ...They were brand new when I joined the railway...One year old....I remember 315813 in Ilford Car Sheds (New Shed) with a lot of wires wrapped round her..Some sort of test thing..I drove them and even guarded on them...(for a year)...(those were great times compared to now)...Still got the 455's...Very similar units...

Any plans to preserve them?

I've totally lost track with them I must have last travelled on one about ten years ago and I haven't been fully following what's been happening as I rarely come on here...

I know this isn’t 315 related but we may be seeing our first 317 scrap move soon! It would appear that 317709 + 317710 has gone from Wembley to Ilford for decommissioning according to a Twitter post but I could be wrong. If someone could send me a link to a Class 317 forum, that would be appreciated!

I believe that there is a thread entitled "Class 317 Withdrawals"

When I passed Wembley on Tuesday I swear there was at least one 315 and one 317 there. Can anybody clarify?
