Where did the 315/316s operate?
Would they operate on the South Coast

Here's one for you, say BR had the requirement for 4 car versions of the 313 - would they have automatically become 316s?
With them being used on NLL services mainly and for GN services to Broad Street, that's if the NCL remained a LUL line and BR never took it over.
315's were and probably still are based at Ilford, they were very early in their lives when I was a cleaner at Ilford Carriage Sidings in 1982 and Hornsey? now?
315s are only seen at Ilford now, I think the 315s left Hornsey when WAGN split into two separate franchises although it should never had happened!
Didn't know that as im at Waterloo and I have the 455's to keep me occupied.![]()
No that is former London Overground and Southeastern class 313's, these are similar to the 315's but a couple of years older.
Also, anyone know why there was no Class 301?
Weren't they prototype EMUs that didn't survive long enough to get the TOPS classification?
Not really - after Beeching the number of trains down to Morecambe/Heysham really didn't justify the wires. Besides - there were no leccy units to use.301 was the ex (LNWR) Euston DC units converted to 25kv AC and used to trial 25kv operation using the Lancaster to Morcambe and Heysham line. Scrapped before TOPS and surprisingly the route dewired.
