Class 31 in bristol

Just seen a class 31 going through Stapleton road pulling a single mk2.
Anybody know what the unit was and what it was doing?

Loco in dcr . Possibly 31016? (Didn't get a good enough look at it.
Mk2. Was in Virgin black and red.

To my knowledge (and moreover to Wikipedia's knowledge, too ), you may have misread the number (it happens to me all the time - don't worry!) - could it have been 31018 from the NRM National Collection?

Possibly. I didn't get that good a look, however, it was definitely in DCR logos, whereas isn't 018 in be blue?

Yes, supposedly. I can't think why they'd repaint/re-vinyl it. I didn't know any 31s were in DCR branding.

I can see that today there was meant to be a move out of the NRM up at York which may have involved an empty carriage, but that was cancelled. Also, it was never scheduled to involve a 31, and was intended for a steam loco.

Some shuffling of stock going on...?

There are 31s in DCR. well its green with DCR written on side. Haven't DCR got something down in devon? id say that was a likely bet?

Oh - the green ones. Yes, I see what you mean now. Silly me.

I still haven't got a result on what it actually was doing or where precisely it was going.

DCR also have 31602 in all over yellow plus 31190 in original BR Green.

DCR also have 31602 in all over yellow plus 31190 in original BR Green.

So it was 31601.

I see the path for it, too!

31452 also carries DCR Green, along with 31454 in Intercity colours.
Please note, 31018 cannot work on the mainline under it's own power and it is not regularly use, currently at static exhibit in the NRM at York
