I read that she is staying at EARM and there is a refurb contract with them
Anyone know if it has started and is there a finish date?
I am looking forward to a trip on the Colchester-Walton line. How long will I need to live?

I do not know how the NRM allowed this to happen with the only preserved 1st generation overhead EMU

Similar thing happened with the class 502 Liverpool-Southport unit owned by the NRM. Was left outdoors in a siding at MoD Kineton for nearly two decades with no maintenance and it deteriorated badly. I guess limited resources and greater public interest in prestige locomotives like Flying Scotsman mean there isn't much left over to spend on other things.

Fortunately the 502 is now stored indoors where some work is being done. Hopefully a similar arrangement can be found for the 306.

Went over there yesterday. it has been moved to the back sidings behind the station
Chatted to the bloke on reception he said it is off to Shildon any day now
I asked why it had been left to rot for 5 yrs he said he had been told they could not come to an agreement with NRM on what they could do to it, and I guess who was going to pay for the paint
Hope they do it up when they get it to the NRM
