I saw this view from the window of a Class 390 and wondered if any of you out there know why the livery is this way? I’m guessing it’s some kind of tribute for Bombardier Transportation.

Correct. Virgin have a Bombardier Voyager and an Alstom Pendolino to celebrate the working between the companys or something along that line.

Alstom Pendolino is 390 004
Bombardier Voyager is 221 144

As 221144 is now disbanded I believe that 221143 now carries the Bombardier Voyager nameplates after gaining this coach from 221144.

221115 is the one carrying the Bombardier advertising livery.

221 143 is in plain Virgin livery with the name plates 'Bombardier Voyager' which has existed from their introduction.

221 115 as stated above carries the Bombardier livery and is named Polmadie Depot.

390 004 (formerly Virgin Scot, and was also involved in the Oxley derailment last year) carries Alstom livery and is named Alstom Pendolino.

Plates were originally carried by 220017, then removed when Virgin didn't retain the XC franchise before reappearing on 221144 when it was refurbished and now 221143 after the 4 car sets were reformed to 5 cars.

I'm not sure we can believe this witness account, my doubts spring from this comment....

I saw this view from the window of a Class 390....

:roll::lol:

(I am of course making a joke before anyone has a sense of humour failure)
