Well... there is space up to the bridge over Briggate for a siding...

I seem to think that inbound trains to P17 cross over for a bit of wrong-line running before Leeds West End; in which case, how about sending it back out west to lay over on the other bit of line (assuming it's not used by freight passing eastwards through Leeds)? Or even as far as Holbeck Sidings?

If the inbound semi-fast is delayed, the ex-Knottingley is held just outside the station on one line and waits to be passed by the semi-fast so that they arrive in the right order.

Very annoying when this results in a missed connection.

Is there any scope for using platform 12 for TPE services? Or is this filled with XC services most of the day?

Can't have too many tables, on medium to long distances.

The biggest benefit of paying the extra to use the train rather than driving or flying is being able to work on the way. That requires a table. On a crowded train it can become a lottery whether you can get one, and thus whether you are able to work.

This isn't an issue in much of Europe, where airline-style seats have enough room to use a laptop comfortably - but that doesn't apply in British trains unless one is quite short and skinny.

And of course, if the group of people travelling is more than two, a table seat means they can sit together.

WYCA has started a consultation on extending P17 to six-car length, including moving the lift and stairs further back into P16. There are two drop-in dates (at the Southern Entrance, not sure how that works with the gate line), and the consultation closes on 31 March.

The cost of this work? £40m...

Perhaps history could repeat itself and centre cars be built for the 195/0s, in the same way that Midland Mainline added centre cars to their Turbostars.

Then again, maybe easier to just replace the two cars 195s with new three cars and use the two cars elsewhere
