Class 195 Door Protection System

I was on a Class 195 earlier today and the train in question had four carriages (two units).

On arriving at Sowerby Bridge, the train must have stopped short because doors opened for those doors on the platform but not those that were not (the rear set of doors).

Is this door protection new because I’ve experienced it until today?

I presume that if the doors detect that they aren’t next to the platform, they sense this and a system kicks in stopping the doors from being opened?

The Class 195 selective door opening system isn't that clever, it uses GPS to locate what station it is at, and will activate the number of doors that will be accommodated on the platform if the train is stopped in the correct place. If the driver stops short, the door system won't realise this and will release doors not on the platform if the conductor gives a full door release.
In the example above it is possible the conductor has decided instead of requesting the driver to draw forward so that all doors are accommodated, they have decided to use the manual override system to prevent the last door being opened.
