A friend is travelling from Leeds to Manchester this Sunday (3rd April) and wishes to bring his bicycle. I've told him about the cycle storage in coach A of the class 185s, but given how crowded those trains are (if it's the usual 3 coach formation), he may find there are people stood in the space.

I know of someone else who travels Leeds to Huddersfield on a weekday afternoon, and has found a particular service which is always 6 coaches. I was wondering if anyone knew if any 6 coach trains will be working the Leeds-Manc route this Sunday late-morning? I have tried looking on real time trains, but it doesn't give the train length.

All of the Liverpool Services are 3 car on a Sunday. That of course doesn't cover every Leeds to Manchester service.

Sunday services are generally all 3 car on the North Route. And many are EXTREMELY busy. I would advise not catching the Scarborough Liverpool service as this is by far the busiest, although the ones to and from Manchester Airport aren't far behind.

If it were me I would go for what is the 1024 or 1224 from York, as they start at York and are generally less busy.

Could also try via the Calder Valley - but I don't know how busy they get

Thanks for your help. Upon hearing they were all 3-car he ended up getting the ex-Scarborough service, which as predicted was very busy. I may tweet TPE if it's happening again in future.

That would be a very long journey, but probably would guarantee a space for the bike, as the train starts at Leeds. When going from Manchester to Huddersfield with a bike I have taken the stopper from Victoria once for the same reason.
