Class 180 Refurbishments

I understand that, as part of the refurbishment programme for class 180s returning to First Great Western, those with Grand Central were also to have a mechanical upgrade. As far as you know, are these being refurbished too?

I'd hope so. I've only used GC for short hops around West Yorks but living in Huddersfield I see quite enough of that hideous FG purple on buses, thanks very much!

Although by the looks of it, GC's are being maintained in the same places at Hull Trains. That's a cheeky little bit of blue i can see!

Well I don't think GCs are maintained at OOC but maybe that is one that has been on hire to Hull trains and so acquired that sometime at old oak common

All the GC 180's are maintained at Heaton , 180101 a GC unit has been on hire to Hull trains and was due to return to GC at the end of November and would have made visits to OOC for exams.
As for refurbishment all 14 units have been through a reliability mods programme , with all the GC units having been through Brush at Loughborough.

At the same time, have you seen what HT have done to GC's 101... Looks like Heaton will have to get the paintbrushes out...

101 returned at the end of November, and should have worked 1st December 1Z80/1Z81 York - London Kings Cross Shoppers Special, but required work at Heaton.
