From looking at Moreton in Marsh on tiger there is just the one 180 out this afternoon but no hst vice 180;

The 1422(1W29) returns as 1728 Worcester Foregate St - Paddington which is booked to call at Shipton, but due to it being a 3-car turbo that stop is
being omitted (not sure what needs investigating);

17:28 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 20:06 will no longer call at Shipton.
This is due to a problem currently under investigation.

For my part I plan a daytrip on either the 2nd or 3rd January for some photos of 800s at moreton-in-Marsh with the semaphores.

You might get pictures of an 800, but there will only be one-and-bit 800 diagrams on the Cotswold Line for the first couple of weeks in January, the bit being the afternoon halts train, running in the dark. From the middle of the month, a couple more diagrams should get added when two more sets are delivered.

Appears that yesterday was the end of GWR Class 180 operations - looking at Journeycheck, both the planned diagrams today are being worked by two-car 165s.

Facilities on the 07:21 London Paddington to Great Malvern due 10:00.
This is due to a broken down train earlier today.
Will be formed of 2 coaches instead of 5. First class not available. Catering is not available.

Which would make last night's 18.35 Great Malvern to Paddington. worked by 180103, the last (second time around) GW Class 180 working.

So is Journeycheck wrong in the reason for the change? Broken down train, or just a diagramming change as a result of the Class 180s going off-lease. If it is correct, then presumably it is either a 3-car Turbo missing or a Super Hitachi Intercity Train that is unavailable.

Where did I say anything about Journeycheck being wrong? I was merely noting that those messages indicated the 180s weren't coming out to play today and that yesterday had been their last day in GW service.

Presumably the intention was that if the last pair of 180s were runners today, they would have been in service, given that it isn't exactly going to be the quietest Saturday morning of the year on the railways.

If they weren't meant to be diagrammed, then presumably the said diagrams would have been amended in online systems earlier in the week to reflect that and it would not show as an alteration in the first place.

A five-car Turbo formation can't be used on the Cotswold Line in passenger service unless the stations with three or four-coach long platforms are omitted - another set may have been attached as far as Oxford but it doesn't say that - and no 800s are going to be used on the line until January 2, when one and a bit of the former 180 diagrams are due to be operated.

I know 3+2 seats aren't the same as 2+2, but a 3-car 165 actually has more Standard seats than a 5-car 180.

There are two-car Turbos replacing the 180s today, not three-car sets, so not sure what your point is - and too right the seats in Turbos bear no comparison with those on a 180.

Update - and absolutely rammed even on the Cotswold services that were booked for three-car Turbos today.

One of the GWR 180s left earlier than agreed to go to Hull trains to cover for the one that expired north of Peterborough on 7th December

I can also see that a working is planned tonight passed Peterborough (my area) Old Oak Common to Heaton, would assume but correct me if I am wrong that is a 180 heading to GC

I doubt it's even diagrammed - there are services lower down the pecking order that a 2-car set should be deployed on before the Padd-Worcesters. I can only think this was a desperate choice for some external reason we are not party to.

The 8.25 Worcester Foregate Street to Paddington was a three car 165 today. Please would that have been a five car 180 (at 8.26) in the past? I thought the 180s were being replaced by 800s. Any information would be useful.
