Sadly, yes.

With most of the 175s sitting on the naughty step at Laira, the 150s are just about all that is left.

And that's proving to be hellish at best today due to cross country's meltdown.!!
I hate to imagine what it was like aboard the 11:49 ex Penzance that I linked to in my previous post given the cancelled XC to Edinburgh that should have left 19 minutes earlier to it.

I know.! I declined that at ply, due to the fact I've seen more comfortable tinned sardines, and opted for the slightly more bearable 1415 iet up

175009 and 113 have also been out today on 5Z77 09:31 Laira T&RSMD to Laira T&RSMD (via Newton Abbot).

First appearance for 113 since transferring down from Wolverton months ago.

:D

Hopefully she makes her debut in service soon, might force my hand and make me travel down south to see it!

Yes, it had a fault so back to Laira for a fix before it has to restart its fault free running from the start!
Well if you can identify what's causing the issue then it's just a matter of solving it and making sure it doesn't happen again, particularly once it enters service again.

175115 seemingly had something go wrong as it lost a lot of time between Dawlish and Exeter and has been sent back to Laira as a result of it

Back to 0!

If it was going to get a fault, prefer not to have had one during the 1k, better to have it midway as opposed to nearly at the 1k ?
The diagram seems to be designed for 500 miles. If it had completed it today it would have done the 1000 miles.

003 doing the only passenger run. I don't know if it's a knock on effect, six 3 car turbos yesterday and seven today at Exeter. Both days they worked Okehampton instead of 150s. Paignton still had two short-form 150s instead of the turbos. Maybe Oke hampton has seen an increase in traffic with the new station. Wasn't Okehampton going to get 3 car 175s from next week?

Still no ready to roll 175s from Wolverton.

I'm assuming this is linked to 2C11/2P16 and 2C21/2P26 being canned every day, guessing they simply don't have the stock to cover them?

It seems so - I guess it's all linked to the plan for 175s to be withheld from passenger service until they've done the 1000 miles empty without breaking down, and there being not enough other units to spread out to cover everything.

Damn it, the one day I take 2E11 up from BOD, it gets canned at PLY - but on the plus side it doesn't appear to be unit trouble, rather they've no relief driver.!!

It looks like the diagram will be reinstated as 2C32 at Plymouth. It's an important diagram as it has the last Penzance to Exeter to connect with the last Bristol train.

Yeah these 2 car 150 workings are a big problem. On 150265 at the moment and people were turned away at Exeter St Thomas.

The 2 car 175 on Exeter to Penzance mid afternoon was dangerously overcrowded on Monday. I boarded at Teignmouth and had to get off at Newton Abbot. Many refused to board there. Serious questions need answering Heidi!
Yes. I suppose Heidi would have to be the mouthpiece but the fleet clearly were never going to be match fit, even if there was adequate and timely crew training. to introduce them. Running two car DMUs on the mainline in Devon and Cornwall in the height of the Summer season is plain crazy, but personally has not been a surprise to me. The 2+4 HSTs should have been retained until the 175s bedded in, but where are the 802s which replaced the HSTs ?

I’m sure they will be when a beefy rolling stock order is announced on the day of re nationalisation. How very cynical of me ;)

Until then, and for 3 years after that date we’re stuck with 26 non functioning rust buckets.

Actually, on that note, have they had any splashes at Dawlish yet? I suspect that will be another to add to the collection of reasons they can’t run. I was really looking forward to using these instead of those deafeningly loud and uncomfortable 150s.

Such a shame, I really hope they can turn it around. Good luck.
