The older trains were so much simpler, even the HST's. Software that allows one faulty door to mess up all the rest and affect another unit as well, is just plain daft and incompetence by the designers.

Has information arose to suggest that a faulty door has caused the issue and if so a bodyside door or a cab door ?

Each bodyside door has a LOOU Switch - Lock Out of Use - which in the event of that door causing an issue with door interlock it can then be overridden by the switch to then regain door interlock and subsequently brake release, cab doors doors do not have this facility. If it is just a standard door fault I am surprised that the fault then transfers to the other unit but having said that we don`t know what fault is rumored to be transferring.

If any DCU - Door Control Unit - has failed and caused the door interlock fault then door interlock can be overriden using the isolation panel in the cab. There are 6 DCU`s across a 2 car.

Operationally it seems bizarre that they've got a small fleet running around that can only couple to itself and no adapters... But not surprised.
Thameslink, before the 700 replacement programme, had 319s and 377s, the two types having incompatible couplings, a rescue plan for breakdowns by using the train behind, and then a timetable which scheduled alternate trains operated by the alternate types :( . It was a key part of the Kentish Town detraining fiasco.

At the risk of speculating, it could equally be a fault with an interposing relay that would prevent the door interlock trainline from energising.

Absolutely, as once the DCU is happy with the 2 doors that it controls it then sends the door interlock signal to the relays.

Tonight's 5V85 has received an auto-activation a few minutes ago which leads me to believe it might not run, guess we'll see in an hour's time!

It's cancelled. Usually works the third time. Pehaps they worried about scattering 175s about the network. Has 175002 and 175011 been recovered?

It wouldn't be particularly great if they're there when Looe services start up again! (Whenever that is, at this point!)
At least Tuesday, depending on whenever river levels fall enough to allow repairs to start. Don't see that happening any time soon looking at the rain today and the forecast. At least it's given GWR time to look at the units in a fairly accessible location. Hopefully they'll be able to resolve the issue so to get back to Laira under their own power.

Pretty sure they do on 175s. They do on every unit I've ever signed

Apologies, I should have been more clearer when talking about cab doors not having the same facility as a bodyside door in regards to a LOOU Switch.

The approach of locking the differing types door out of use is slightly different between the bodyside doors and the cab doors. Bodyside doors have a lever arrangement in the header gear above the door and cab doors have a T key facility in the centre of the door leaf accessible from inside and outside.

Hope this clears up the confusion.

Something is being planned for Sunday night,I don’t know the details.
It was only Friday morning when the previously derailed 802105 was moved first to Exeter then Taunton Fairwater Yard and then on to Bristol.

The two class 175 units are still at Liskeard with plans for their movement now scheduled for midweek.

Just watched on the Saltash cam 175001+175003 doing 5Z13 to Penzance after originally doing 5Z12 to Newton Abbot. These units seem the most reliable. Maybe the passenger run later on?

No, the units are diagrammed to split at Plymouth after 5Z13. One unit goes on to work 2C26 & 2P21 then 5P21 back to Laira. The second unit heads back to Laira as 5Z92.

001 and 003 are the workhorses at the moment. Hopefully a /1 (101 or 114) will make an appearance soon. It's diagramed as a double anyway but it's clear unit availability has curtailed that a bit.
