Classes 172, 220 and 222 use a FLEXX Eco bogie - the same as will be fitted to the London Aventra fleets.
The legendary, nay mythical British Rail Advanced Suburban Bogie, as was. The rights to it, the P3/T3 bogies (found under Electrostar/Turbostars) and the underused P4/T4 bogie (Class 158 and Mark 3 DVT) which should have been a 140mph capable DMU/EMU and coach bogie, all went with BREL when they were privatised.
It suits the Turbostar (which started life as the Networker, anyway) because that's what it was designed for. It'll do brilliantly under the Aventra, I'm sure, and unlike Siemens SF7000, the option exists for their inside framed bogies to have disc braking on the powered wheelsets, not just the unpowered ones.
