Does anyone have a list of Destination Only codes for class 170 units for the following operating companies:

First Scotrail
London Midland
Cross Country
Southern (Class 171)
Central Trains (a long shot if anyone has these)

I have a list of National Express East Anglia Destination Only codes and was wondering if anyone else had any others.

The Destination only codes are used when the standard schedule codes are not available or suitable. These codes allow the destination to be displayed on the front and rear of the train. If so please can you either submit on this thread or PM me them.

Cheers.

Although quite often on the XC 170s they just give up and resort to displaying nothing, half a destination, 'Sorry' or 'Turbostar Class 170' :P . The joys of modern technology, ha :D

I got a LM 170 from Shrewsbury the other day. As I approached it the front display said "Shrewsbury" on the top line and "--Sorry" on the bottom! I tried to take a picture but the light conditions were bad and I didn't want to miss the train!

It's a rubbish system. The worst I've ever come across for sure. One minute it's fine and then it gives up the ghost and cannot be made to work, even when offered money. At times it can be dead in the cab but still showing a destination on the front. Go figure.

The GPS seems to be better than it used to be. I remember back in CT days when the interior displays would still be scrolling 'We are now approaching Widnes' on arrival at Nottingham

You can manually advance the PIS for each stop if the GPS isn't working properly. But you can't do a damn thing if the system decides to "sit down" completely or simply freezes.

Delightful machines. Although (in my opinion!) I'm sure LM at Tyseley put the best bits of kit on their own units and leave the rubbish for the XC ones. The destination displays do cause a few problems - particularly when it sticks on the previous journey. Working at a station where I dispatch XC 170 services, it's a pain when you have 2 units on adjacent platforms, leaving within 2 minutes of each other, one going to BHM and the other not, and the one that's actually going in the opposite direction has BHM on the back. This has been known to lead to passengers rushing for trains at the last minute, as they will, jumping on the wrong unit, especially as the destination screens on the concourse are now set to stop displaying trains/platforms 2 minutes before departure so they are relying on their own memory of which platform their train departs from.

There are not any for scotrail turbos either. The codes are on the drivers and guards diagrams for input when the driver opens up the desk.
