Class 168 with Thames Trains

While looking at photos on flickr, I came across two of 168/1s working with both Thames Trains 166s & 165/1s. I assume they were leased for a while? What would be the reason though?

No, they're working joint Chiltern + Thames services. They were during diversions for the Evergreen engineering work possessions. If I recall correctly, there was a 3 unit formation that split twice en-route too. Occasionally there are window stickers/carriage labels that come up on eBay for these workings.

There have however been occasions when Chiltern lent units to Thames and vice versa. Notably for the Henley Regatta and for Wembley Stadium events respectively.
