Since there seems to be a lot of interest in them at the minute, does anyone have any kind of trivia related to the design, construction or operation of these popular units?

The Class 158 body and interior would in my view have made a pretty decent hauled coach, much better than a Mk4. I've travelled on them with a failed engine and it was very pleasant.

Special Gangway adapter is required to couple a cab end to an "inner" End.

The 158s/159s were the last multiple units to be built with separate power and brake cpntrols.
